Criteria:
  • The Naledi Theatre Awards is open to all Main Stream Professional Theatre Productions staged at a recognised venue by a professional Management.
  • All Professional theatre performers and practitioners are eligible on condition they are South African by birth or residence. (ex-pats are eligible)
  • Naledi recognises Professional South African Artistes, Producers and creators; overseas directors, designers and actors are NOT eligible.
  • No Student Productions are eligible whether they utilize certain professionals or not.
Guidelines for Judges
  • All judges are selected for the position by the NTA Executive.
  • All judges are appointed for a maximum period of 3 years. Each year, judges are assessed by the Exec.
  • A judge may be re appointed by the Exec for another period.
  • A complete database of all judges' details will be held by the NTA Admin office. This is will be available at all times in hard copy and on the computer
  • All details will be updated by the NTA admin office every month. Please ensure that we have your correct details.
  • All information and requests will be emailed to judges by the NTA admin office.
  • The Judges are requested to abide by the set of guidelines that are laid down by the NTA.
  • All judges will receive a regular list of shows that are eligible for judging.
  • All judges are expected to attend a MINIMUM of 75% of all shows in the year under review and keep programmes of all shows as reference.
  • All forms are to be emailed back to the NTA Admin office for data capturing onto the specially devised computer programme.
  • All judges will be invited to the Award Ceremony
  • No judge may give interviews or comment to the media without prior permission from the Executive Director and may not under any circumstances bring the NTA into disrepute through criticism or negative personal opinion as to the criteria or results of the judging. In public or private discourse.
  • Any judge may resign their position at any time for personal or professional reasons, in writing by email to the Executive Director of Naledi.
  • We strive to get a representative selection of judges in terms of gender, culture and age.
